CZECH REPUBLIC 6 Days

The Czech Republic is located in central Europe. The country today is a parliamentary democracy with a advanced economy and high living standards. The capital and largest city is Prague, which is the fifth(5th) most visited city in Europe after London, Paris, Istanbul and Rome. The country is also known for its various museums and puppet festivals throughout the country.

Tips:

  • The currency is the Czech koruna. Despite being a member of the European Union, the Czech Republic has not adopted the euro yet.

  • Czech beer is world famous. The Czech Republic is the No.1 beer drinking nation on the planet, Beer is served almost everywhere, even in breakfast cafés! It tastes terrific and it's cheap.

  • Prague nightlife begins later than many other European destinations. The night starts at 10pm and goes till at least 3am.

DAY 1

  • Arriving by air: The airport is located 35-45 minutes from the city center (Old Town).

    • Getting to the Old Town hotels:

      • Private Pickup- we recommend Welcome Pickups. For the same price as a taxi, you will get a private driver with excellent English and knowledge of Prague. The driver will be also waiting for you with the welcome sign at the terminal exit. Should your flight be delayed your driver will be monitoring the flight schedule.

      • Uber - the only disadvantage compared to a private pickup is you need to wait for your car.

      • Airport Shuttle Transfer- it’s less expensive and brings you directly to your hotel. Travel time is longer due to more stops.

  • Arriving at the Prague train station. Hlavní nádraží is the main train station. It is on the Prague Metro Line C <network>

    • If you're traveling with bulky luggage, it's best to opt for either an Uber or a taxi to get from the train station to your hotel. This will provide you with the most convenience in carrying your large bags.

    • Hlavní nádraží station:

      • is a 5-minute walk from Wenceslas Square The Square is a popular area due to the numerous bars, restaurants and shops.

      • is a 15-minute walk from Prague's historic old town. (best location to stay)

      • is a 20-minute walk from the King Charles Bridge. 

      • The Hlavni nadrazi station is a safe place to be, even late at night.

  • The Prague Metro consists of three lines: Line A (Green Line), Line B (Yellow Line), and Line C (Red Line) <network>

  • If time permits, wander around Old Town and enjoy a meal.

  • Overnight: Prague (3 nights)

    • The best location to stay in Prague is Old Town (the city center). However, it is also the most crowded and expensive area.

      • Staying in Old Town puts you within walking distance of many of Prague's most famous sights. Old Town has a unique atmosphere with its cobblestone streets, Gothic and Baroque buildings, and lively squares. You can immerse yourself in the historic and cultural heritage of the city by simply stepping out of your hotel.

    • Our 2nd choice is Mala Strana. It is picturesque, filled with old burgher houses, quaint streets, traditional Czech pubs & restaurants.

  • Distance: Airport —> Old Town (city center) 30-40 minutes.

DAY 2 and 3

  • Two (2) days exploring Prague - Highlights.

  • Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It is home to delightful churches, palaces, towers and bridges, creating an awe-inspiring skyline. It’s a city that you won’t forget easily, full of history and architecture.

  • For an excellent overview of the city, join a Walking tour. Duration: 2hrs.

  • For quaint cobbled streets and traditional pubs, head to Old Town.

  • Visit Old Town Square. It is one of the most pleasant squares to visit. Welcoming and charming, the square is surrounded by winding lanes which are great to explore by foot. Don’t miss to visit the decorative Astronomical Clock and the impressive tower at Old Town Hall.

  • Make your way over to the famous Charles Bridge for sweeping views of the Vltava River.

    • The Charles Bridge is famous for its stunning medieval architecture and historical significance as a major landmark in Prague, connecting the Old Town with the Prague Castle area. It is one of the oldest bridges in Europe. Visitor can walk across its cobblestone path, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere created by street performers, artists, and vendors along the bridge.

  • Climb the hill to the stunning Prague Castle for more panoramic vistas. The castle was a seat of power for kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and is currently the official office of the President of the Czech Republic.

    • The ceremonial Changing of the Guard including a fanfare happens daily at 12.00 noon in the courtyard of the Castle.

    • The enjoyable walk from Old Town Square to the castle is about 35 minutes, 2.7 km one way.

  • Cruise the Vltava River: Observing Prague from the river Vltava is a unique experience and a different perspective. Cruises within the city are competitively priced and often include lunch or dinner depending on the time of day.

    • Choose a cruise with a duration of two (2) hours or more. This will ensure that you are aboard long enough to escape the hustle and bustle of Prague and allow you to enjoy the serenity of some of the quieter riverbanks on the Vltava River.

  • Prague has excellent little bars to sample the famous Czech beer (Pilsner Urquell), charming cafes, restaurants and shops. The area is walkable on foot, making it easy for visitors. Travel around town is easy, with plenty of trams and taxis available.

    • Traditional Czech pubs close around 11pm. The more modern bars and clubs usually stay open until at least 1am or 2am.

      • Be warned in the Czech Republic, a zero tolerance approach to drink driving is adopted, with a zero per cent blood-alcohol limit for driving a car and you will face stiff consequences.

DAY 4

  • Embark to Cresky Krumlov.

    • The picturesque setting of a horseshoe bend river with a huge 'Disney style' castle is what Cesky Krumlov is famous for. The town has remained unchanged since the 14th century because of its incredible preservation of ancient buildings.

    • It is the most popular destination outside of Prague.

  • Highlights:

    • Visit the Grounds of the State Castle and Chateau Ceský Krumlov.

      • The elaborate Castle is visible from all over town, rising above the banks of the river. A viewing gallery 162 steps up offers panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside and the orange rooftops of downtown Cesky Krumlov framed by the picture-perfect, u-shaped bend of the river.

    • Stroll around town square with all the shops and restaurants and visit the nearby St. Vitus Church. The church be can traced back to the 13th century.

    • During the warm season, go river rafting in the river. This is a good way to see the town from the water.

  • Distance: Prague —> Cresky Krumlov, 2 hrs. by car.

  • Trains available from Prague, duration: 3.5 hrs. but beware it’s a slow ride that leaves you at a station relatively far from the town center.

DAY 5

  • In the morning continue exploring Cresky Krumlov and later in the afternoon depart for Prague.
