What level of walking experience do I need?

…The Three Capes Track has been designed to cater for a broad range of ages and abilities. For many, this will mark their first multi-day walk. The track emulates a ‘pathway’ and is a metre in width traversing gravel, rock and timber surfaces. If someone needs uphill encouraging, walk side by side, a rarity on multi-day hikes. Whether new to walking or a seasoned adventurer, the high standard track is a good fit for those who prefer ocean over boot views.

What level of fitness do I need?

If you exercise regularly, and are capable of walking about four hours daily over four consecutive days, you will be fine. The dry track is well formed and all steeper sections have well-built steps for daily climbs. Along the way there are intriguing artfully constructed seats to slip off your pack and take a breather. For those looking to acquire fitness, we recommend by starting with a 30 minute daily walk and build up to four hours. Be sure to trial walking with the pack you intend to take, so you feel fully prepared.

The Three Capes Track is a 29-mile track that starts at one of Australia's most important historical sites and takes in some stunning coastline. The path is mostly composed of packed dirt and gravel or wooden boardwalks. Wooden benches overlook interesting views, including a rock ledge popular with seals at Cape Pillar.
